Are You Making A New Pool? Check These 3 Landscaping Tips
Today’s outdoor pools are very different from most pools 30-40-50 years ago. And one big difference is the exterior design around the pool. Colorful additions, extra perks and gadgets, decks around the pool, etc, all add up to the way everything comes together. One of the first things you will notice after you are done looking at the pool is everything else that surrounds it. Borders around the pool deck and everything else around it, all add up to beauty and the comfort you want to convey.
Build a path to keep your pool clean
Now, one of the big issues is keeping the pool and the house clean, so minimizing dirt getting inside the water or your house is a big deal. The solution to this is a walkway, usually from the back door of your house to the pool itself. You can use some stones or simple wood panels to pave the way and let your imagination run wild when it comes to deciding how you want to border it. Some potted plants, smooth stones, or any other ideas that you might have can add tremendously to the beauty of the landscape you are creating, and it doesn’t cost much also!
Don’t plant trees next to your pool
But bear in mind not to plant trees anywhere close to the pool or the walkway. Roots of the trees can break the concrete over the years, or cause cracks underground where you can’t see it while it’s too late, so it would be the best not to plant trees too close to your pool. In case you decide to do so, bear in mind that you will also have to clean the leaves from the pool, which you won’t enjoy nearly as much as swimming and relaxing in the pool.
Enhance the overall atmosphere – lazy bags, bbq and the lights
To continue on, there is nothing else that can add to atmosphere better than the light. It can be a bit costly, but this is something definitely worth investing in. We’ve all seen how enchanting and magical pools look like when there is plenty of light around it, carefully positioned to make the atmosphere more exotic and romantic when necessary. Areas dedicated to sunbathing are pretty much a requirement if your house has a pool, so you might want to spend some money investing in a beautiful wooden deck for lazy bags and some patio furniture. And last but not the least, one of the most important things, a barbecue/cooking area. Everyone enjoys good barbecue, and where there’s pool, there’s party, so maybe getting a grill right after your pool is finished is the best choice.
